Goshorn Wellness Center is pleased to announce the addition of Alyssa Cowdrey, MSACN CNS to our nutrition team! Alyssa has an undergraduate degree in health sciences and she recently obtained her Master’s degree in Applied Clinical Nutrition (MSACN) at New York Chiropractic College. Her passion is working with individuals struggling with weight loss challenges, food sensitivities, chronic disease and athletes (sports nutrition). She believes in taking a whole-food integrative approach. One that unifies diet and lifestyle, while offering emotional support, spiritual growth and enhancing physical development.
Alyssa’s initial interest in nutrition came from her own struggles with being overweight as a child. After developing an unhealthy relationship with food, Alyssa quickly learned the importance of having a healthy diet and exercising regularly. She understands the struggles and emotional aspects of trying to lose weight. She aspires to help others change their way of thinking and create a healthy relationship with food. Alyssa will be joining Barb and Amy in their very successful lifestyle and weight loss Shape program.
Chronic disease and food allergies/intolerances has become more recognized over the years. Diet plays a huge role in the prevention, exacerbation of symptoms and treatment. She strives to create the best possible plan to match the nutrient and physical needs of every client.
Athletics is something that Alyssa is very familiar with, as an athlete herself, playing sports and running. She learned that the importance of meal timing and macronutrient balance will play a substantial role in performance. Although at times confusing, she is here to educate you and help you to achieve your optimal athletic performance through nutrition.
